GUEST: Anne

The most sensitive people in any room are also the ones most likely to disappear into someone else's crisis. That's not compassion. That's self-abandonment.

When you're very sensitive, you automatically take on responsibility for someone else's happiness. But that comes to the detriment of your own happiness — and it doesn't even work. You can't carry someone else's healing.

Most of us who grew up in emotionally chaotic environments learned early that it was our job to manage the room. That sensitivity became a superpower — and a trap.

The work — the real Hero's Journey work — is learning to find your own center first. Not as a selfish act. As a prerequisite. You cannot bring your gifts to the world from a place of depletion.

You were not born to be someone else's emotional anchor. You were born to bring your gifts. Those are two very different callings.
